My go-to apron is made by repurposing two mens shirts. It comes from a book by Susan Wasinger. There are many versions of repurposed shirts but this is the best. I have made it when a father/spouse passes away as it is faster than making a quilt. I am amazed at the number of cooks who do not wear aprons. Recently, I used the scraps from the apron project and made some MW soup cozies. Here is the link: https://www.motherearthnews.com/diy/try-this-button-down-apron-recycled-shirts/

Wow, I have and love all of these kitchen tools - especially my apron. Love your website and book. Have been practicing and preaching zero-waste cooking for several hears now. We will be in the market for a new stove in a couple of years - still use electric coil burners and ordinary oven. Still works great for me.

Love everything about your “Zero Waste” .. bought your book pre ordered! Yes to jars, apron…pressure canner/cooker, but the “fossil fuel” problem is just a myth. Where does all the electricity come from? And if solar, you realize how unethical the harvesting process is to get the components needed to generate batteries. If you are worried about indoor pollution, crack a window and be more concerned with formaldehyde and chemicals emitted from carpets, drapes and certain furniture. Municipal water is a problem, with a ton of poison. Fast fashion and polyester clothing… it never ends.

I love the apron tip! And thank you for the recommendation for an induction cooktop. We are in the market and I didn’t know where to start looking. 🙏🏼

When do you use your induction burner vs. your gas stove? We still have a gas stove that isn't on it's last legs, but I'm trying to rationalize an induction burner as well.
